Water leak detection in Mallorca
We pinpoint hidden leaks in pipework, cisterns and tanks without digging trenches or breaking floors blindly.
A water bill that climbs with no explanation, damp that keeps coming back on the same wall, or a cistern losing level while nobody is using it are symptoms of the same thing: there is a leak somewhere in the installation. The hard part usually isn't repairing it, it's finding it, because the water surfaces a long way from where it escapes.
At Tuberías y Aljibes we locate leaks in homes, apartment buildings, country properties and tanks across Mallorca. The goal is always the same: pinpoint the exact spot before touching anything, so the repair is targeted instead of opening whole stretches as a precaution.
How we work
We start with what can be checked without any building work: the meter with every outlet closed, the layout of the installation, how the pressure behaves and the map of damp patches. That narrows things down to the suspect stretch. Then we run that stretch with the inspection camera, which also carries radiofrequency locating and lets us mark the fault on the surface to within a few centimetres. You get the footage and the exact location, and from there we decide together whether to repair that section or replace it.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions about water leak detection
My water bill has shot up. Is it a leak?
It may well be. A simple check: close every tap and appliance in the property and look at the meter. If it's still turning, water is escaping somewhere in the installation and it's worth locating it soon.
Do you have to break the floor to find the leak?
That isn't the starting point. We narrow down the stretch with checks that need no building work and by running the installation with a camera. The whole idea is to avoid digging blind: if opening up is needed in the end, it's only where the fault is.
How long does it take to locate a leak?
In domestic installations it's normally resolved in the same visit. On longer or buried networks with several possible stretches, it can take more time to work through.
My cistern loses level without being used. Do you cover that?
Yes. It's a common case on country properties: it may be a crack in the tank itself, an open joint, or a loss in the outlet pipework. We check both the tank and the pipework to tell which of the three it is.
Do you also find leaks in swimming pools?
We check the pipework and associated drainage, which is where a good share of losses originate. If the problem is in the pool shell or the filtration system, we tell you so a pool specialist can look at it.
Do you repair the leak once it's located?
On the pipe and drainage sections we normally work on, yes. If the repair belongs to another trade, we hand over the exact location and the report so whoever steps in knows where to work.
Is the report useful for an insurer or an owners' association?
Yes. We provide images and the location of the point we found, which is what insurers and owners' associations usually ask for when apportioning responsibility for damp.
I have damp on my ceiling. Is it my neighbour's leak?
Not necessarily. Damp can come from a shared stack, from a private branch in the flat above, or from water getting in through the facade. Locating the source is precisely what stops neighbours arguing without evidence.
Do you work with managing agents?
Yes, regularly. In apartment buildings, locating the leak first is what allows a sound decision on whether the affected section is common or private before ordering the repair.
Do you quote before coming out?
We give you the price of the location work before we travel. The repair, if there is one, is quoted separately once we know what the problem is and where.
